This palm was discovered in central Mexico and was first thought to be an out of range population of B. nitida due to the completely thornless leaf stalks. But due to the bright silvery white color of it's leaves it is now thought to be a completely new, as of yet unnamed, species. These will be completely green as small plants but will develop it's blue color as it matures. There are no fully grown specimens, that I know of, in existence in Arizona. (Zone 8-10)
